Vivendi now owns nearly 25% of Ubisoft as it continues to snap up shares

French media conglomerate Vivendi politely issued a press release today declaring that it now owns over 24 percent of the share capital (think: value) of French video game company Ubisoft. Come from Soccer 13 pools and matches

It's a clear indicator to anyone watching the company's ongoing attempt to absorb Ubisoft that it has no intention of giving up, which is notable in light of the fact that Vivendi did not try to push its representatives onto Ubisoft's board during the game company's recent annual shareholders meeting.

For the record, Vivendi says it now owns over 24 percent of Ubisoft's share capital and 21.29 percent of its voting rights.

Last October Vivendi controlled just 10.39 percent of Ubisoft's share capital; by the time the aforementioned shareholders meeting came up in late September, Vivendi had more than doubled that, increasing its stake in Ubisoft to roughly 23 percent.
